There are many goat breeds available in India. And the goats with Indian origin are called Indian goat breeds. Some of these goat breeds are being raised locally, and some breeds have been exported to other countries around the world. Some of these breeds are very good for meat production, while some breeds are very good for producing milk.

Each of these goat breeds differ in size, color, body shape and characteristics than others. Some are larger in size, while some breeds are smaller. Gohilwadi Goat

Zalawadi Goat


The Zalawadi goats are also multi-purpose animals. The breed is believed to have originated and named from the 'Zalawad' region of Gujarat state of India. It is raised for meat, milk and also for fiber production.
